This home has a very special place in the homeowner’s heart. Her grandparents were the first owners of this house, from when it was built in 1949 until 1983. The granddaughter bought it back in 2021. The family connection made it important that the renovation honor the history and craftsmanship of the home, while meeting the needs of a modern family. Special efforts were made to retain original elements such as the brick fireplace and den built-ins.
Exteriors
The exterior, once red brick, is now a modern white. A much-needed new carport and convenient side entry were added to the home, along with a back deck that extends the home's connection to the backyard.
Kitchen, Dining Room, Family Room, & Home Office
This full first-floor renovation embraces an open-concept design, linking the kitchen, dining room, and family room. Restored hardwood floors flow throughout, adding warmth and continuity to the space.
This charming kitchen features elegant marble countertops and a matching backsplash, complemented by soft pink cabinetry. An expansive island anchors the space and has seating for four.
The original fireplace serves as the focal point in the family room. The wall-length built-in provides both display space and concealed storage. The new double sliding doors to the deck and the large opening between the den and the kitchen transformed the once cave-like space into a sunny garden-facing family zone.
In the dining room, a built-in bench offers additional seating while maximizing space.
Owner’s Suite & Walk-in Closet
In the owner’s suite, the floor plan was reimagined to create a more private and expansive retreat. The new layout ensures that the ensuite bath no longer doubles as a guest washroom. A new spacious walk-in closet adds functionality.
Guest Bathroom
The new guest bath, complete with a walk-in shower, transformed an awkward hallway into a much-needed functional space that also adds real estate value to the home.
This renovation transformed the space, making it a stylish and comfortable home for this family.
