Shops of 5th Street

The Shops of 5th Street is a ‘gateway’ building to the shopping district of South Beach, Miami Beach.  Parking garages have to be above grade in Miami, so the goal in this location was to create a dynamic façade to camouflage the 5 storey garage and wrap the first two ground levels with engaging store fronts.  The result was an interesting piece of architecture contributing to the urban fabric and pedestrian experience.  Joy Martin was part of the design team for the concept, programming, rezoning and design development of this project while employed at Zyscovich Inc.  It was completed in 2004 and continues to be an active and dynamic anchor of the South Beach retail experience.
