Origin Northwest
The Origin project was one of the first of its kind in British Columbia: a six-story wood frame, multi-family building on a concrete plinth. A complicated design approval process was undertaken to integrate the project into the master planned urban community at UniverCity on Burnaby Mountain. The schematic design, programming, design approvals, Construction Documents and construction administration was completed with Joy Martin acting as the Project Manager while employed at GBL Architects. The exterior of the building is clad in a charcoal colored large format fiber cement panel called Nichiha, and cedar accents with cast-in-place concrete give a nod to the Northwest aesthetic.
